The only thing worse than being denied an opportunity is stopping yourself from succeeding before you even try.
There is a reason you are not getting ahead in your career, and it is not what you think. Or maybe it is, let’s dive into that a little deeper.
It is easy to blame external factors:
“The jobs I want aren’t available.”
“They’re probably looking for someone with more experience.”
“No one wants to hire me at my age when they can hire someone fresh out of college.”
How do you expect to achieve anything greater if you don’t even think you have what it takes to get it? Doubting yourself will never get you anywhere.
Your perspective is everything. How you think about yourself impacts your whole career.
You are never going to convince anybody to take a chance on you if you fail to recognize your own worth. If you don’t give yourself a chance, nobody else will either.
Your thoughts create action & your actions create results. And doing nothing is still an action that still creates a result.
It will start to feel like something is wrong with you because you are getting nowhere in your search. But blaming everybody else won’t solve the real problem.
The frustration is caused by you not being able to operate at your full potential and getting in your own way.
It's not going to happen on its own. It's up to you to pursue it.
Facing fears is the only way to achieve success.
Your excuses are why you will remain stuck somewhere you know you don’t want to be when you could be working towards something greater.
I know there are a lot of risks involved when you make a switch, and that can absolutely be scary. I get it.
What will happen with your bills if things don’t work out?
Will you even like your new job? What if it’s worse?
But spend more time thinking "What if this does work out?"
But don’t deny yourself an opportunity just because you are too afraid to find out what comes next.
There will always be risks involved with your career.
Staying somewhere that is no longer serving you is also a risk - but nobody ever wants to talk about that.
Don't think about "what if I leave & it doesn't work out". Start thinking "what is it costing me to stay here?".
Without a good strategy, you won't get anywhere.
Confidence comes from having clarity & strategy. When you know that you thought about what your next move is going to be, you won’t worry so much about every little thing that doesn’t go the way you want it to.
You will learn to trust the process & adjust as you go.
Having clear goals makes it a lot easier to have the clarity you need to take the steps that will get you to where you are wanting to go.
A small step today could have a big impact later down the road.
Give yourself a chance to have the career you've been desiring. I promise that once you start achieving the things you set out to do, you will realize that you can do anything.
You look back & see the things you once thought you could never do were just stepping stones to a greater vision.
The career you want isn't going to fall into your lap.
Dream lives are not chased, they are created.
Start planning your next move.
You got this.
Whatever you do, don't settle!
